Why I will not be enabling super likes:

Some of you have probably seen Webtoon's new "super like" update, and I wanted to explain how it works and why I refuse to participate in it.

Simply put, for every $1 you donate to a creator, they receive less than $0.49. Webtoon states it's a 70/30 split, but it's a little more complicated than that in the fine print.

When you make a $1 donation, the apple/android store takes a 30% cut off the top($0.70 left). Of that $0.70, Webtoon then takes their 30% cut($0.49 left). You have to earn $100 NET donations before you can cash out, and when you do cash out through Paypal/Patreon, those also take a fee.

What this also means is that readers have to donate over $200 to a creator before they can cash out $100 one time.

So I really encourage you guys, if you want to donate to ANY creator, please check to see if they have a tip jar on their website, paypal, a ko-fi, merch, or Patreon first. Those places all take a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller cut.
