In the coming months, WEBTOON will be implementing age ratings for all WEBTOON ORIGINAL content. These new ratings reflect our existing Content Guidelines, which have not changed. With our new Content Age Ratings, users will find more visible ratings on WEBTOON ORIGINALS, helping to ensure users do not encounter content that may not be appropriate for their age or content preferences. Just like the ratings on TV shows or films, our new Content Age Rating gives readers and parents a new way to determine their comfort with different content on WEBTOON.  Our age rating standards on the US/English platform are as follows:

All-Ages: Appropriate for readers of all ages. Series may contain mild depiction of cartoon blood. 

Teen: Appropriate for readers age 13 or older. Series may contain mild fantasy violence, blood, or gore. May contain minor themes related to mental health topics, but no graphic depiction. Series may contain uncensored mild profanity. 

Young Adult: Appropriate for readers age 16 or older. Series may contain moderate violence, profanity, sexual themes, mild nudity, and consumption of alcohol or drugs. May contain themes of self-harm, bullying and abuse.

Mature: Appropriate for readers age 18 or older. Series contains graphic imagery, violence, profanity, nudity, or sexual themes. Although series may not contain explicit sexual content, it is recommended for older/mature readers only.

Series are assigned age ratings prior to launch and may be reviewed again periodically for age-appropriateness. Updates to content access may change without prior notice. When a Mature content rating has been assigned to a series, only users age 18 or older will be able to continue reading the episodes. Please visit our FAQ​ for more info on series access. 

How we determine content age rating:

Our teams review series and episodes based on depiction and thematic levels of violence, nudity, sexual content, profanity, and alcohol, tobacco, or substance abuse. Additionally, we also consider sensitive themes such bullying, abuse, self-harm, or terrorism that may be present in the storytelling.

Age ratings are determined based on level and prevalence of graphic and thematic elements in the series.

Specific episodes that contain additional sensitive themes or elements will have the content indication or trigger warning at the top of the episode. Sensitive themes may also be indicated in the series description.
