WEBTOON is dedicated to introducing new programs and offering expanded services to CANVAS Creators. It’s also important that Creators understand their relationship with WEBTOON and how they can make money on the platform, so we are introducing CANVAS-specific Terms of Use. Creators should know that the CANVAS TOU largely mirrors the previous general platform TOU, except these terms are specifically tailored for CANVAS Creators. 

Please be assured, your ownership of your published content is not impacted by this new agreement.
 

Here’s what to expect in these new CANVAS Terms of Use: 

·  These updates clarify our relationship and services we provide to Creators who publish their series and content on  the CANVAS platform.

·  These updates will allow us to continue to expand our monetization programs and opportunities for Creators – such as the Super Like or Ad Rev Share programs - and give you a clear understanding on how you will interact with these services!

·  We know maintaining your content rights is your major priority as a Creator. Rest assured, nothing in these new terms changes your relationship with CANVAS and how you share your work. We want to emphasize that the mention of a non-exclusive license in these terms are primarily intended to allow us to distribute and promote your stories with the intent to help your series grow for as long as you choose to publish with us on CANVAS. We remain committed to your ownership of your IP rights as the Creator of your digital comics. These updated terms do not restrict you from publishing any other versions of your content, such as through other sites or as printed versions of your comics.

To summarize: these new terms will help us keep WEBTOON CANVAS a safe place for you to share your series with readers, continuously improve our platform, services and tools, to support your series and monetization goals!

Here are some important considerations:  

1. WEBTOON’s user generated platform of the English and Spanish language services (the “CANVAS Platform”) and the WEBTOON CANVAS Program of the EN/ES Service are operated by WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. (“WEI”), and programs implemented through the CANVAS Platform (including the Ad Revenue Sharing Program and Super Like Program) are administered by WEI. To ensure transparency and clarity in the contractual relationship between CANVAS creators of the EN/ES Service (“Creators”) and WEI, we have established the CANVAS Terms of Use (“CANVAS Terms”), which govern Creators’ use of and participation in the WEBTOON CANVAS Program and the CANVAS Platform.

2. Creators who wish to participate (or continue to participate) in the WEBTOON Ad Revenue Sharing Program and/or Super Like Program must agree to the CANVAS Terms, in addition to other applicable policies and terms of the ‘WEBTOON’ application’s publisher (NAVER WEBTOON Ltd.), including, but not limited to, the (i) WEBTOON Terms of Use, (ii) Community Policy and Uploading Guidelines, (iii) WEBTOON Ad Revenue Sharing Program Terms of Service, and (iv) WEBTOON Super Like Terms of Service.

3. The Ad Revenue Sharing Program Terms of Service has been updated to incorporate changes resulting from the implementation of the CANVAS Terms, ensuring consistency and clarity in terminology usage across WEBTOON’s policies and terms.
