New Series Home Is Here!

In May, we announced refreshed layouts for the Series Home Page across both WEBTOON Originals and CANVAS. We’re excited to share that these updates are officially rolling out starting with the Mobile Website, followed by the App update in the coming days. 

These updates are designed to make it easier for readers to discover and engage with your series.

Here’s what’s coming:

 


MOBILE WEBSITE + APP

  • New Episode Sorting  

    • Users will now be able to sort episodes by ‘oldest’ or ‘newest’ giving them more control over how they read your story. 

  • Improved Search Functionality 

    • When using the search function, results can be explored by trending or popular series making discovery even easier. 

  • Smarter ‘Preview’ Tab

    • The ‘Preview’ tab will only appear to users who are new to a series, helping draw in first-time readers with curated sneak peeks.

  • Genres are renamed to ‘Categories’

    • All genres will now appear under a more streamlined ‘Categories’ label across the platform. 









DESKTOP

  • The ‘Popular’ tab now ‘Ranking’ 

    • Within the ‘Ranking’ tab you will be able to explore series by what’s trending, popular, Originals, and CANVAS. 

  • Genres are renamed to "Categories”

    • All genres will now appear under a more streamlined ‘Categories’ label across the platform. 

 

 

 

EPISODE THUMBNAILS 

One key update that was previously shared is the new episode thumbnail size. Currently, episode thumbnails are square (160x151px) and with the new layout, they’ll be updated to rectangular dimensions (202x142px). This change is designed to simplify the episode page list and display more episodes at-a-glance.

Existing thumbnails will be automatically cropped to the new size when the update goes live in mid-June, which may affect how your current thumbnail appears.

 

If you’d like to prep new thumbnails, we suggest creating your assets using the new dimensions. You may use the template below to adjust your thumbnails to the new dimensions. This is not required and up to your discretion, but we encourage you to use the new recommended thumbnail size so that your thumbnails and series will be optimally displayed to readers!

Once the new layout goes live, you will be able to re-upload your adjusted thumbnails to previous episodes. Please note that users will need to update their app in order to see the new layout. Those who have an older app version will still see square thumbnails.
