Update to WEBTOON Community Policy

11.25.2025

Hello WEBTOON community,

We have updated our WEBTOON Community Policy, effective January 6, 2026, to bring greater clarity and transparency to how we support and protect the CANVAS community.

For creators, these updates focus on three key areas: our Appeals Policy, Content Guidelines, and Copyright Policy/Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") process.

Here’s an overview of what’s new:

APPEALS POLICY:
The updated version outlines the process for creators to appeal the removal of an episode or series due to Content Guideline violations.

Creators now have three options when a series or episode is removed:

Independently revise the episode: A creator can revise the episode on their own to meet our guidelines;
Work with the Creator Support Team to revise the episode: Work with the Creator Support Team to revise content; or
Appeal the decision without revisions: If you believe the episode was removed by mistake and that your content does not violate any policies.

After your appeal is reviewed, you will receive a final notification with one of the following outcomes:

Appeal Approved: Your content will be restored.
Original Decision Upheld: If the removal decision stands, your content will remain removed.. This decision is final and you will need to revise your content for re-review and reinstatement.
New Decision: In some cases, a different moderation action may be deemed more appropriate.

CONTENT GUIDELINES:
We updated our Content Guidelines to make them easier to understand and more reflective of our growing global creator community.

The updates include:

- Providing clearer examples of prohibited content
- Offer guidance on handling sensitive themes responsibly
- Clarify expectations for age-appropriate content and ratings
These updates are designed to help creators confidently share their stories while keeping WEBTOON a safe, inclusive, and creative space for everyone!

COPYRIGHT POLICY/DMCA PROCESS:
We’ve also expanded our explanation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") Takedown Notice and Counter-notice processes to make it easier for creators to understand their rights and responsibilities.

The updated policy outlines:

- How to file or respond to a takedown notice
- Required information for each step
- Timelines for process notices and appeals

This update will help creators understand what is allowed on our platform and plan your series accordingly.

Please be sure to review the new policy HERE.

COMMUNITY CODE OF CONDUCT:
We expanded our Community Code of Conduct to provide more clarity on the type of community we want to foster, what content is prohibited, and how to report content that violates this policy.

The updated version provides more details regarding topics relating to:

- Suicide, Self-Harm, and Crisis-Related Content
