Global CANVAS Creator FAQ

03.26.2026

For the first time, WEBTOON will unify its regional UGC services into a single global CANVAS platform. Launching in Spring 2026, and with new features rolling out throughout the year, CANVAS will support global distribution across seven languages — English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai, Traditional Chinese and German — making it easier than ever for you to share your story, grow your fandoms, and monetize your work all over the world.

Q: What does this mean for me as a CANVAS Creator?

A unified CANVAS platform means readers all over the world can more easily discover your series. You’ll gain the ability to publish in multiple regions through an opt-in Translation Program, expanding your potential audience and monetization, a new Creator Dashboard with deeper analytics and improved discovery through personalized recommendations. Later this year, we’ll expand access to the Ad Revenue Share to all international CANVAS Creators across seven languages, giving Creators more ways to earn.

Q: When will these updates be available?

New CANVAS features will roll out in phases for each language platform.

For Creators on all language platforms, the Creator Dashboard and updates to the CANVAS home experience will begin in Spring.

For Creators on our English-language platform, updates also include the opt-in beta Translation Program. This program will roll out later this year for creators who publish in English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai, Traditional Chinese or German. We’ll continue to share timing updates as we get closer.

Q: What’s included in the new CANVAS Creator Dashboard?

The new dashboard gives you a clearer view of how your series is performing over time. You’ll be able to track page views and subscriber growth across daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes, along with engagement metrics like Super Likes and comments.

Q: What’s changing with community management?

We’re introducing new tools to make it easier to manage and engage with your community. For example, you’ll have a dedicated comment management tab where you can view and respond to comments in one place, making it simpler to stay connected with your readers.

Q: How does the Translation Program work?

The opt-in Translation Program allows CANVAS Creators to translate their series into multiple languages and reach new international readers. Translations are powered by AI technology and are available in English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai, Traditional Chinese and German.

The program is optional, and Creators can decide if they’d like to translate their series and make it available to readers in other regions and languages.

The Translation Program will begin rolling out in beta in Spring 2026 to eligible English-language CANVAS Creators before expanding to additional markets later this year.

Q: What on-page elements does the translation program alter during the translation process?

The Translation Program only translates text elements. It does not alter your art or train on your artwork.

Q: Who is eligible to join the translation program?

To qualify, a CANVAS series must have at least 10 published episodes and more than 2,000 global page views in the past 365 days.

Q: Is the Translation Program turned on by default?

No. The program is completely optional. You decide if you want to publish in new regions, which series to include, and which languages to support.

Q: Do Creators have control over translation quality?

When you opt in, you’ll complete a glossary to help guide translations. This includes character names, key information, and important terms to help keep translations consistent and accurate.

Q: Is it mandatory to fill out the glossary?

Yes, two sections are required: Main Characters and Information for Title & Summary (up to 1,000 characters). Other sections, such as World Setting and Key Terms, are optional but highly recommended to help ensure translations are as accurate as possible.

Q: Can I make updates to the glossary at any time?

Yes. You can update your glossary at any time. Changes will apply to episodes published after the update.

Q: Can I preview translations before they go live?

Preview is not available at this time. Translations are processed automatically when you publish a new episode, so translated versions go live alongside your original episodes.

Q: How will translated series appear on my Creator Profile?

Your series will appear on your Creator Profile as it does today. Readers can choose their preferred language when viewing the series.

Q: Can I opt out of or turn off the Translation Program?

Yes. Once you opt in, you can opt out at any time, and translations will be removed immediately. If you opt out, you’ll need to wait 60 days before rejoining the program. Individual series can also have translation turned off, while keeping you enrolled in the Translation Program. If you disable translation for a series, you’ll need to wait 30 days before re-enabling it.

Q: Can I have multiple series in the translation program?

Yes, as long as each series meets the eligibility requirements of having 10 published episodes and more than 2,000 global page views in the past 365 days.

Q: Do I have to translate into every language?

No. You choose which languages you want for each series. You can select one language or several.

Q: Can comments be translated?

Yes. Comment translation is available for all CANVAS series. Comments are shown in their original language by default, with an option for readers to translate them into their preferred language.
