Thank you to everyone who participated in my poll on who would get the fish treatment for MerMay 2024. Fiona won by 20,000 leagues! But I don't think ya'll are ready for how her mermaid version turned out. That art is out now as a digital wallpaper for my Patrons and will be out later this month to everyone as part of a collab. But to hype things up a bit, please enjoy these visions of mermaids past.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! The Fantasy Book Club is all about finding connection and community and that is especially true for my Trans Characters, Drew who is Trans Masc (he/him) and Quinn who is Non-binary (They/Them)… but also for me (They/She).

I’ve always thought it would be really funny to make an annotated version of TFBC with the only difference being the addition of a snarky author’s note every time Fiona is less than truthful. I’ll never do it, but the thought entertains me…
Fiona: My teacher gave me this book as part of an assignment!
Note: Her teacher is frantically trying to find this book RIGHT now.
Fiona: I didn’t burn my house down!
Note: She did. To be fair she was a dragon at the time, but she definitely did.

In very exciting news, the FBC is featured on Webtoon’s reading list for Women’s History Month which just feels wild! For those who are new here, welcome!! On the other side of the coin, being featured in anyway always seems make my rating take a massive hit. It doesn’t really matter, and I know not that many people even look at it, but it still feels bad. So if you have enjoyed my work and haven’t already rated it, I would really appreciate it. 🥰
Day 8: What got you into drawing & storytelling?
So as I’m sure is a shock to no one, I read a LOT of fantasy books growing up. I didn’t really want to be in my world. I had a hard time connecting with people and I felt out of place no matter where I was. Fantasy Books showed me a world where I felt ok. The person I talked to the most was my middle school librarian and I devoured everything she gave me to read until there was literally nothing left in the section I hadn’t read (it was a small librarian).
That’s when I started coming up with my own. I had always loved art so I would draw my characters and world. I loved sketching out the details and big moments. My note taking and sketching turned into attempts at novels and reading books on writing…
So what got me into this? Running out of books.
