The book that Tori and Kitsu are sitting in front of is actually a memorial to Shuji Terayama. Many critics view him as one of the most productive and provocative creative artists to come out of Japan. He has been cited as an influence on various Japanese filmmakers from the 1970s onward. You can visit his memorial in Misawa Japan (I named the city Tori is from Hisawa). Lots of lore this episode!
