READS RIGHT TO LEFT While Eon and Multis's interpretation of Christian doctrine is alright and is a valid debate (Though I have problems with the "case-by-case basis" part), being a Christian myself, I have to disagree with them, but that's a story for another day. Sometimes you have to write against your own ideology if that's what your characters and story need.
