Eudora and Izzy are referring to a line in the play The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, or Peter Pan. Captain Hook complains, "No little children love me. I am told they play at Peter Pan, and that the strongest always chooses to be Peter. They would rather be a Twin than Hook; they force the baby to be Hook. The baby! that is where the canker gnaws." Says something about Ricky, though. :)
