I conceived Kynda as a fierce pragmatist to contrast with Ellie's constant daydreaming. She came with a host of interesting challenges - and not just figuring out the shading on a black character for the first time. I had to carefully balance her "overbearing rules-lawyer" energy with her "caring mom" energy to create a force that was antagonistic, but ultimately sympathetic. I think I nailed it.
