Starting a jam on a power jam: good! Powering your jammer at the start of a jam: bad. Remedial Roller Derby: A "power jam" is when your opponents' jammer is in the penalty box (which means you're the only team that can score points). A "power start" is a jam that starts on a power jam, which is even better: it's likely your jammer will get out of the pack first and become the lead jammer.
