In the movies, extraterrestrial life is usually depicted as cosmic warmongering conquerors, bent on subjugating the human race. Perhaps this all originated with The War of the Worlds, by H.G. Wells. At any rate, however, I sometimes think about all the stories of crime and violence I hear in the news and wonder just who would be crazy enough to tangle with us.
