I live in a part of the world that sees an explosion of ticks (mostly of the wood variety), so this story hits close to home for me. While I find spiders to be the considerably creepier arachnid, the truth is most spiders are harmless to humans, and many varieties cannot even bite us, whereas any tick can post a threat.
