Religion and adherents to religion get plenty of criticism - and to be fair, it's not as though we haven't deserved it. When you explain away anything and everything as "mysterious ways" or "God's plan", trying to welcome people to the flock under the basis of "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" is a bit of a hard sell.
