When children make mistakes, they're mocked for their ignorance and considered to be trash until they've made amends. When adults make mistakes, they get legions of their peers to speak up in their defence even when the mistakes involve natural or financial catastrophes, or throwing an entire generation of offspring into the deep end. And then they wonder why kids lack the motivation for learning.
