Individuality isn't a very prized trait from an organisational perspective, which is why the advice to lay low and be inconspicuous is often given in corporate settings. It's actually pretty relevant advice - until you realise that the person who stands out the least is also often the best fit for when the powers that be require a scapegoat whose sudden absence will go absolutely unnoticed.
