Ever since the early 2000s, one thing adults have consistently done is compare their offspring and successors to the obedient, efficient, hyper-accomplished communities in East Asia - often neglecting to mention the tradeoffs, shortcomings and circumstantial, systemic issues behind those "successes". One pandemic later, I'm not sure they've actually learned their lesson.
