When you're at the bottom of the hierarchy or food chain, what you can and can't change is not usually for you to decide. No matter how well you explain yourself or how blatantly impossible or unreasonable a task or situation is, someone will disagree - usually a figure of authority. At that point no amount of "wisdom to tell the difference" will save you.
