Some metaphors make very little sense the more you think about them. If you like the scent of roses, that still doesn't conjure up the image of "comfortable" or "easy". And in the first place, why go for a flower that's just as well known for its thorny defensive mechanisms? Seriously, idioms were memes before the Internet made meaningless in-jokes cool again.
