Many responses to youth dissatisfaction, I've found, tend to focus on a combination of obedience and respecting the chain of command. "Follow orders, stay in your lane, and nothing bad will happen to you" is the common refrain. The problem I have with that this only applies if rules and hierarchy are applied to begin with; otherwise, it just becomes another handy excuse for random penalties.
