If done correctly and carefully managed, "compromise" is one of those things that you can foist onto others and add to your resume without actually doing anything else. Just treat it like a massive game of Chicken - the first to blink typically loses, and you can even blame a failure to "meet you halfway" on the other person. The odds are good that you'll get away with it.
