Whether it's the fact that everything is accessible by the click of a wiki page, or the increasing emphasis on social networks and "soft skills" - knowledge is not nearly the power it used to be. People technically still speak fondly of it - in the context of a novelty. Just look at how far "qualifications" take you today and you'll see what I mean.
