A lot of being open-minded is centred around building up critical thinking - at least, on the surface. Realistically, it's more akin to a clash of opinions. Which is usually fine on its own until you're on the receiving end, at which point you can expect the end goal to be not so much critical thinking or exposure, but typically to grease someone else's wheels or be less of a thorn in their side.
