Wherever you stand on the AI debate, what stands out to me more is not so much what we think AI is capable of, but more of gleefully thinking that swathes of people we disagree with are going to be placed in dire straits. It's funny that our work is somehow simultaneously so unnecessary that it can be replaced by bots, and yet so important that losing it makes us worthy of mockery.
