One response parents and teachers usually have for bullied kids is to tell the victim how emotionally mature/sensitive they are despite a lack of punishment for the bullies, plus the argument outlined above. The problem is that when the kids grow up, they won't be surrounded by their parents or teachers... but everyone else who thought making them the butt monkey was a great idea. (Whoops!)
