If a problem cannot be obviously ignored (as in Mehtivator #10), the next step is to continuously insist that it can be done regardless of what the data says. This way you can place the problem and responsibility squarely in the hands of the unwilling and lecture them for insubordination. (Subsequently, you get to lecture them more when they give in and end up failing anyway.)
