"Opportunity" is an extremely loaded, tricky word. Simply having it doesn't do anything for you, but for some reason it makes adults feel entitled to put more obstacles, challenges and handicaps in your way under the assumption that "opportunity" will somehow prepare you for it. And when you fail, they feel entitled to punish you even harder.
