If you need to give an answer but really don't want to, "There's a time and place for everything" is one of the best non-answers you can give to someone. It paints them in a negative, impatient light and assigns them responsibility to follow up - which you're not even obligated to. Saying "there's a time and place" never requires you to actually give a time and place.
