The easy way has been vilified for some time, thanks to insinuations that an "easy way out" must mean that corners have been cut, morals have been compromised, or character has not been built. This insinuation of shame can be applied to everything from failing to tell off a client for being unreasonable, to insulting any Team Fortress 2 Soldier who doesn't use the Rocket Jumper.
