What I dislike most about bringing up "opportunity" in discussion is how it often feels like a complete cop-out. It assumes that someone isn't in a better position than they currently are because they're morally repugnant or a failure, without taking into account other personal circumstances. Leaders do this all the time to their subordinates, especially if they were involved in being an obstacle.
