The problem with people who push the "we're all in this together" or "at this company we treat employees like family" angle is that they usually speak from a position of power - which also means that they can terminate the whole solidarity thing when it pleases them. Usually when they have to meet you halfway or put resources up front, even if failure means they have everything to lose.
