"If you're not happy about doing something, then stop doing it" is one of the strangest admonitions I've come across. Partly because it typically ignores things that you're obliged to do (and rarely, if ever, gets applied to such tasks), but really it's just a roundabout way of saying "Your reaction is bad and you should feel bad, and if you don't I'm going to make you regret ever making noise."
