The problem I have with upskilling is that marketed as a solution without being implemented as such. It's something that employees "have to do", but realistically, it doesn't make your workload better, make you more palatable to your boss beyond the hiring stage, or reduce your already-stretched expenses. It's basically dropping you in the deep end and blaming you for whatever happens afterward.
