Most people know that standing out is usually a quick way to get you cut down, usually by people looking to preserve their position or the status quo. The problem is that people, like lawnmowers, aren't picky about who they cut down - and thus you can expect to be surrounded others, angry at your attempts to stand out, or be in a position that's threatened any time some fool gets grand ideas.
