The problem I have with the narrative of upskilling is not because I think it's completely useless - the problem is that our relationship with work has not evolved to a point where it means anything. You can go for courses all you like, but when all the jobs that need filling are the mindless jobs that nobody wants to do or spend money on a robot for, a better brain won't be helping anyone.
